Martha Lang, the 2008 U.S. Women's Mid-Am champion, handed another tough defeat to a determined Carolyn Creekmore, taking a four-stroke victory to win her first Women’s Southern Senior Championship.

Two weeks ago Creekmore was the runner-up to Diane Lang at the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur at the Tulsa Country Club.

Beginning the final round with a seven shot lead, a bogey by Lang on the first hole opened the door and Creekmore made a birdie to cut the lead to five shots. By the turn the lead was two shots.

“At the turn, I was glad I had started with a seven shot lead," said Lang.

She and Creekmore then traded birdies at holes ten and eleven. At hole fourteen Lang’s lead went to four when she birdied and Creekmore bogeyed the par three and the two traded a couple of birdies coming in for the final score.
