Monterey City Am: Higton in Playoff
MONTEREY, Calif. (July 13, 2008) -- It took only one hole in a sudden-death playoff to crown this year's champion. Jason Higton defeated Justin Warthen (the pair finished the 54-hole event deadlocked at 7-under 209) after a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Defending champion, Mark Miller, successfully defends his crown in the Senior Championship after a 33 on the back to close the tournament out with a 69 (218 total). Multiple winner in the First Flight, Doug Berry, played the weekend at 7-under Net to win the First Flight by 1 stroke over one of his best friends, Greg McBride. Last year's runner-up in the Second Flight, Jeff Miller, improved his position by winning his first Monterey City Amateur Championship in the Second Flight.
