American Seniors Two-Man Team Championship
VERONA, NY (July 19, 2006) -- For the second consecutive year the ASGA National Two Man Team Championship was contested at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona New York. Three days of beautiful, sunny weather greeted a wonderful field of members from all over the country. Players took on the Rick Smith designed Shenendoah Golf Club in Chapman format for the first round while the second round was Better Ball on the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Kaluyat Golf Club. The final round was again Better Ball on Shenendoah. Players found the courses enjoyable but challenging and in pristine condition.
Ned Longson and Larry Den played well all three days and were the only team to post a finishing gross score under par at -1. They were closely pursued by two-time defending Champions and brothers Bob Stuart and Buddy Stuart, but they could not close the gap and finished three strokes back as did first round leaders Bill Luceno and Joe Davis.
Dick Thomas and Harry Rohrer led the way in net scoring, closing with a spectacular 12 under par 60 to hold off Bruce Milligan and Al Nicholson by a single shot and Peter Klinkenberg and Tom Trainer by two. John Mooshie and John Olewski closed with 11 under par 61 to finish fourth while ASGA President Roy Young and Charles Haworth held on to fifth after leading the first day.
The Ladies were led by Carol Milligan in the Gross Division, Lori Gaughran in the Net Division and Kathy Kane in Stableford.
