Houston Senior Amateur: Clark goes wire-to-wire
HOUSTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2007)-- Fred Clark of Kingwood led wire-to-wire en route to victory in the 2007 Men's Greater Houston City Amateur Championship played at Memorial Park Golf Course.
Clark, 58, recorded rounds of 68-69 to finish at 7-under-par 137, four shots ahead of Thomas McGraw of Montgomery, who carded rounds of 71-70--141 on the 6,721-yard, par-72 layout.
In winning his first Senior title, Clark ended the two-year reign of Houston dentist Jerry Hudgins, who finished fifth with a 145 total after rounds of 70-75.
In the Super Senior Division for competitors 65 and older Bill Kelly of Houston finished at even-par 144 with rounds of 74-70 for a one-stroke victory over first-round leader Bob White of Conroe.
