Florida State Mid-Senior: Woulfe takes title
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (Aug. 19, 2007)-- Rick Woulfe, of Fort Lauderdale, went wire-to-wire to win the 2007 Mid-Senior Championship with a tournament total of 1-under par 215. After two rounds of shooting 70, Woulfe had a commanding six stroke lead heading into the final round of play.
He posted a 75 in the final round on the Long Point Course to hold on to the lead and capture his third individual title this season. In addition to winning the Senior Amateur and Senior Amateur Match Play Championship this year, Woulfe partnered with Frank Strafaci, of Davie, to defend their Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South title earlier this season.
Overall, this win is Woulfe’s ninth State Championship. Felix Bertucci, of Gulfport, placed second six strokes back from Woulfe. With rounds of 75-74-72, Bertucci finished with a tournament total of 221. Four competitors shared third place including David Sutton, of Maitland, who fired a 69 in the final round, the low round of the tournament. Sutton along with Ken Moody, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Maxie Cupit, of Jacksonville, and Doug Snoap, of Apopka, shared third place with a 224 total.
