NEW ORLEANS, LA (February 20, 2018) - Behind individual winner Sierra Brooks the Florida Gators have won the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate and their first event of the season.

Florida, 9-over for the tournament, placed three players in the top-15 as they finished 9-over and a comfortable nine shots in front of runner-up USC who finished 18-over. In third it was 24-over Michigan State, NC State took fourth at 29-over while SMU was fifth with a 31-over showing.

Brooks, a sophomore, for the Gators won the individual title by four shots after she finished 7-under with rounds of 69-69-71 at English Turn Golf & Country Club. A transfer from Wake Forest, Brooks began her college career after a highly decorated junior career that included a win at the 2015 SALLY Amateur and a runner-up showing at the U.S. Women's Amateur that same year.

In the final round Brooks took control early with three birdies in the first six holes that allowed her to play conservative golf to the end. Brooks did double-bogey the last but she was still able to win her second medalist title in her last three events.

Also in the top-15 for Florida were Marta Perez (T6; +2) and Taylor Tomlinson (T11; +6).

Behind Brooks in the medalist race were Allyson Geer (Michigan State) and Jennifer Chang (USC) in second at 3-under while Allisen Corpuz (USC) and Elin Esborn (Florida) playing as an individual were fourth at 2-under.
