Women's Southern Amateur: Lewis rolls
WSGA photo
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 8, 2007)-- University of Arkansas senior Stacy Lewis made short work of a competive field at the 2007 Women's Southern Amateur, winning the championship 4 & 3 over two-time champ Virginia Derby Grimes.
Lewis, the runner-up in 2006, started off by topping Mina Hardin 6 & 5, and continued on that pace all the way to the final.
Her toughest challenge came from Jacqui Concolino in the quarterfinals, whom she beat 2 & 1.
Lewis is the current amateurgolf.com-Bridgestone Golf Player Rankings leader.
