ST. GEORGE, UT (March 24, 2017) -- SunRiver Golf Club in St. George played host to the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Qualifier on Monday, March 20, 2017. Thirty-seven teams competed for a chance at the championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina May 27-31, 2017. Of the 37, only two teams advance.

BYU teammates Spencer Dunaway and Peter Kuest earned medalist honors and the first qualifying spot by carding nine-under 62. Kuest made four-straight birdies on the front to help the team shoot 30 on the first nine and 32 on the back.

The team of Dan Horner and Darrin Overson clinched the second qualifying spot during a sudden-death playoff with Matthew McArthur and Eric Nilsson. Both teams carded rounds of 64 (-7). On SunRiver’s 250-yard par-3 No. 16, Overson two-putted for par to halt the playoff after one hole and send team Horner/Overson to the final round.

McArthur/Nilsson are the first alternate team. Mason Anderson and Davis Evans are the second alternates at six-under 65.
