Joseph Trinder wins Tasmanian Amateur in marathon final

CAMBRIDGE, Tasmania (November 22, 2016) -- It took five extra holes but finally with a birdie on the 43rd hole Joseph Trinder was able to defeat Richard Kube and claim the Tasmanian Amateur at Tasmania Golf Club.

Trinder made his way to the final match as the seven-seed while Kube was seeded 13th.

In the Women's Draw three-seed Sarah Johnstone laid claim to the title via a 3&1 triumph over top-seed Georgia Milbourne.

MATCH PLAY RECAP

The 36-hole title match of the Tasmanian Amateur will feature Richard Kube and Joseph Trinder after both players won three matches to advance to the final tilt.

Teeing it up at Tasmania Golf Club Kube, the 13-seed, advanced with wins over No. 6 Haydn Garner (3&2) in the Round of 16, No. 5 Andrew Phillips (2&1) in the quarters and top-seed Paul Read (5&4) in the semifinals.

Trinder made his way to the finals as the seven-seed by defeating No. 10 David Pretyman (4&3) in the Round of 16, No. 2 Sam Rawlings (3&2) in the quarterfinals and in the match of the tournament 11-seed Elijah Stanley (19 holes) in the semifinals.

In the Women's bracket top-seed Georgia Milbourne will square off against three-seed Sarah Johnstone.

Milbourne moved forward with wins over No. 8 Sharon Crowden (1 up) and four-seed Elysia Yap (21 holes) in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectfully.

For Johnstone it was quarterfinal and semifinal wins over six-seed Kalynda Cowen (20 holes) and second-seed Zahara Lemon (3&1).

The women's title match will be a 36-hole match affair beginning Tuesday morning.
