PEBBLE BEACH, CA (October 17, 2016) -- A big afternoon run left the NCGA holding a commanding 6.5-3.5 lead with only Tuesday’s singles matches left on the table at the Hanna-Wehrman Cup.

The NCGA, which is aiming for its 11 straight Cup win, won the first four of Monday afternoon’s Foursomes matches at Poppy Hills Golf Course. Each of the matches would come down to at least the 16th hole.

The winning NCGA tandems were Ben Peters/Ryan Sloane (2 and 1), Juan Gonzalez and Zachary Solomon (1-up), Jason Anthony and Kyle Davies (1-up) and Matt Cohn and Nick Moore (1-up).

The lone winning NCPGA Foursomes squad was the tandem of Tim Huber and Tim Sands (3 and 1).

Following the Monday morning Chapman portion, both the NCGA and NCPGA were tied at 2.5 points.

The NCGA got wins from the tandems of Nick Moore and Matt Cohn (5 and 4) and Ben Peters and Ryan Sloane (3 and 2). The NCPGA countered with victories from the tandems of Mitch Lowe and Dave Carr (7 and 6) and Tim Huber and Tim Sands (1-up).

The NCGA’s Jason Anthony and Kyle Davies erased a one-down deficit on the 18th hole to halve their match against David Solomon and Ray Otis.

In the Chapman format both players on a team hit tee shots, and then play second shots using their partner’s tee shot location. After both players’ second shots, the team must select one ball location from which to complete the hole using the alternate shot format.
