Tim Jackson leads charge into U.S. Senior Amateur Semifinals

ST. LOUIS, MO (September 21, 2016) -- Medalist Tim Jackson continued to move along during Wednesday's quarterfinal victory at the U.S. Senior Amateur.
Facing No. 56 John McClure at Old Warson Country Club, Jackson had to rally late to secure a 19 hole victory. Trailing 2 down with three holes left, Jackson won the 16th and 17th holes to square the match. He then claimed the match with a 19th hole birdie.
In the semifinals, Jackson will face Dave Ryan. The 29-seed advanced with a 5&3 victory over No. 37 Michael Dunsmore.
The second semifinal will include 31-seed Kevin Cahill after he outlasted No. 39 John Hornbeck 1 up in a seesaw match. His opponent will be 14-seed Matthew Sughrue who defeated 2013 champion and 11-seed Doug Hanzel 1 up. Trailing, Sughrue won the 15th hole to square the match and then the 16th to take the lead.
The semifinal winners will face off in the championship match on Thursday

The USGA Senior Amateur is open to those
with a USGA Handicap Index of 7.4 or lower,
who are 55 or older on or before the day the
championship begins. It is one of 14 national
championships conducted annually by the
USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
