BRADENTON, FL (August 4, 2016) -- The 18 holes of
individual stroke play seeding kicked off early Thursday
morning for the 25th Amateur Match Play at The Ritz
Carlton Members Club. Despite some looming weather
in the Bradenton area, play was completed without
delay, and seeding for the Round of 64 has been
determined.
Kits Patel (3), of Tampa, Thad Hudgens (2), of
Longwood, Hutson Chandler (5), of Alachua, Mike Andre
(4), of Fort Myers, and Christopher Carlin (1), of
Plantation have all earned Co-Medalist honors, recording
a 3-under par 69 for their rounds. Carlin, who is coming
off of a win at the Four-Ball Championship in July, has
earned the #1 seed and will be playing against Tyler
Miller (64), of Valrico. The fantastic five were not the
only red numbers of the day, as six players were tied
just two shots back at one-under par, 71 for their
seeding round.
The last three Champions of the Amateur Match
Play are also competing, with defending Champion TJ
Shuart (58), of Fort Lauderdale competing against Miles
McConnell (7), of Riverview. 2014 Champion, Philip
Knowles (21), of Bradenton, will be competing against
opponent Todd Schmitt (44), of Orlando. 2013
Champion, Kevin Jorden (29), of Juno Beach will be
playing against Stephen Anderson (36), of Hobe Sound.
2001 Champion, Joe Alfieri (39), of Lutz fired even
par for his seeding round, and will play Lucas Trim (26),
of Tampa at 9:10 on Friday morning.
The Round of 64 will begin tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
EST, with the Round of 32 matches to follow in the
afternoon.
