Clay Homan leads Mississippi State Amateur
Clay Homan isn't coaching this week, he's playing
Madison, MS (June 4, 2016) - The third round of the State Amateur Championship went off without a hitch. Overcast skies and low breezes provided optimal scoring conditions. The last state amateur champion at Reunion Golf and Country Club in 2012 has taken the lead. Clay Homan, of Starkville, made a 5-under round look easy to put him at 13-under 203 with one round to play.
The final round pairing will be Clay Homan, Cameron Clarke and Neil Trimm at 9:40 am on Hole #1. Trimm with his home course knowledge, sits within three strokes of the lead. The 36-hole leader Cameron Clarke trails by one stroke going into the final round.
A win by Homan tomorrow would tie C.W. Kittleman's title record of 5 wins, and put him one win closer to Gene Vinson and Rett Crowder's record of 6 wins.
