Florida Winter Series at Clearwater: Final Results
65-plus winner Kim Schwencke

CLEARWATER, Florida (Mar. 1, 2016) -- The
Clearwater Individual Winter Series event completed
the 2015-2016 Winter Series season just in time for
the warmer weather. Good course conditions at
Feather Sound Country Club mixed with
temperatures in the mid to upper 70’s made for two
days of great competition, February 29-March 1. The
season long point’s list winners were awarded along
with three Champions!
Excitement came from the 65 and Over
Division in round one when Kim Schwencke aced the
eighth hole, his 14th hole-in-one, to fire an
impressive one-under par 71. Schwencke, of Tampa
deservingly captured the round one lead by two
strokes over Jerry Young and Carey Watson who
both tied for second place. In the 55-64 Division,
Kevin Macy, of Tampa, posted a steady even par
round (72) to take the early lead after round one.
John Vaccaro and Pete DeLongchamp tied for second
place with a round of two-over par 74. Baldonick
Fernandez Sr. and David Garratt tied for the lead
after round one in the 40-54 Division with a six-over
par 78.
Round two resulted in another spectacular
round from Kim Schwencke resulting in a victory in
the 65 and Over Division. Schwencke carded an even
par 72 for a tournament total one-under par 143 and
a three stroke win. Plantation resident, Carey
Watson claimed second place with another consistent
73 in round two and a 146 tournament total. Kevin
Macy never let first place out of sight by shooting a
round two score of 75 en route to a one stroke
victory in the 55-64 Division. Rokki Rogan, of Fort
Myers chased Macy in the second round posting an
even par 72, but finished one stroke behind in
second place with a 148 tournament total.
Consistency earned David Garratt, of Saint Augustine
a seven stroke win in the 40-54 Division. Garratt
fired a second 78, tournament total 156, as
Fernandez struggled to a second place finish.
Throughout the winter series, a points list
is maintained that, after the last event of the season,
determines which competitor wins their age division.
David Garratt (635 points) was awarded the Mid-
Senior (40-54) age division champion and is now
exempt into the 2016 Amateur Championship held at
Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers. The Senior
(55-64) age division Champion, Rokki Rogan (463
points), earned an exemption into the 2016 Mid-
Amateur Championship at Black Diamond Ranch in
Lecanto as well as the Senior Amateur
Championship. Coming off a great win, Kim
Schwencke earned 498 points to be named Champion
of the 65 and over age division. He will be exempt
for the 2016 Senior Amateur Championship being
held at Adena Country Club in Ocala.
