First round of play suspended at Tailhade Cup
Lightning forces suspension of play in Argentina
After two suspensions during the round, play was finally halted at the Copa Tailhade 20th International Tournament. Fifteen countries are represented as play started today before the threat of thunderstorms came. It seems rain wasn't the issue, it was an abundance of electricity in the sky.
"The constant lightning prevented us from resuming the match after the second suspension," says Daniel Vizzolini, Director of Championships and Rules AAG. "We were in close consultation with various meteorological services. The situation never improved despite almost no rain until moments after the suspension. "
Play is scheduled to resume in the morning at 11:00 a.m. local time. Canada is the defending champion.
