USGA Mid Amateur: Florida Players Fail to Advance to Match Play
The Canyon Course at Forest Highlands
Flagstaff, Arizona (September 11, 2006) - In qualifying that was delayed a day due to lightening, Chris Stutts of West Palm Beach and RJ Nakashian of Palm Beach Gardens led the Florida players with 7 over par, two round totals of 150. FSGA Publinx Champion Robert Parker of Sanford was close behind at 151.
The players came close, but were just outside the qualifying cut of 148. Exactly 64 players were at 148 or better. With 18 players at 148, a massive playoff was narrowly averted.
Medalist honors went to Ryan Hybl of Winterville, Georgia, Carlton Forrester of Birmingham, Alabama and Trip Kuehne of Dallas, Texas - all tied at 4 under par 139.
The Championship concludes with the 36 hole final match on Thursday, Sept 14th.
