PNGA Jr. Girls: Graf over Moon for Title

Snoqualmie, Wash. (Thursday, August 24) – Monika Graf of Wenatchee, Wash. defeated Seo Hee Moon of Mukilteo, Wash. 1-up in a closely contested final match to win the 51st PNGA Junior Girls Amateur Championship at Mt. Si Golf Course in Snoqualmie, Wash..
After halving the first hole with pars, Graf took the 1-up lead with a birdie on the par-5 second hole. After exchanging pars on the third and fourth holes, Moon took control of the match by winning the fifth and sixth holes to take a 1-up lead in the match. Striking back quickly was Graf who won the seventh, eighth and ninth holes by making birdie-par-birdie, to give her a 2-up lead at the halfway point of the match. The tenth, eleventh and twelfth holes were halved and then Moon won the thirteenth hole to get back to within one. After halving the fourteenth hole with pars, Moon got the match back to all square with a par on number fifteen. A 3-putt by Moon on the sixteenth hole gave Graf the 1-up advantage and then with pars on the final two holes, Graf hung on to claim the championship.
In the First Flight Kaitlin Parsons of E. Wenatchee, Wash. made a rare Double Eagle on the 462-yard, par-5 second hole. Parsons went on to win the First Flight with a 2 & 1 victory over Amy Beth Simanton of Lake Oswego, Ore.
