TOLEDO, Ohio — Paul Schlachter successfully defended his crown Friday at the Society of Seniors Jack Hesler Championship with a three-round total of 219.
The Bridgeville, Pa. native was tied with Steve Hudson of Birmingham, Ala. after round two and was three shots clear of third. Schlachter did exactly what he needed to do in the final round, shooting a 74 to beat Hudson by three shots and take the Senior Division title.
In the Super Senior Division, Doug Baker of Austin, Texas shot a final round 76 which was just enough to get the job done. He beat his 36-hole co-leader Dick Hubbard by two shots with a 224 total. Baker was propelled by his opening round 69 which was the only round in the 60s posted by any player in any division.
