ABOUT THE Tennessee Match Play

The first TGA State Amateur Championship was played in 1914. Originally it was conducted as match play, but since 1969 stroke play has decided the Tennessee Amateur Championship. After four years of competition in the mid-80s the Match Play Championship was revived in 2004 with 36-hole stroke play qualifying at the tournament site to set the field of 16 players in the match play bracket.
