HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Playing Hattiesburg Country Club in the fourth running of the Magnolia Amateur, Colin Monagle, along with Luke Kwon of the University of Oklahoma and Parks Brown of Gainesville, Fla., were deadlocked at three-under 137 after Saturday's second round.
Monagle, a graduated senior from Jacksonville University, fired his second straight round of four-under 66 to emerge from the group and win the tournament by four shots.
Kwon shot 70 in Sunday's final round and settled for a runner-up finish, while Brown struggled to a 75 and fell back into a tie for eighth place.
First-round leader Bryce Alley, a junior at the University of Texas-San Antonio, rebounded from a second-found 72 to shoot 69 on Sunday and jump into third place. His 67 led by a stroke after day one of the 54-hole event.
Alley's teammate J.J. Lindsey finished at even-par 210, shooting 70 on day three, and tied for fourth place to round out the top-five with Alabama sophomore Steven Setterstrom.
