Medalist, defending champion moving on at Oregon Senior Amateur
MOLALLA, Ore. (Sept. 23, 2014) — Doug Banks, the medalist, and Scott Hval, the three-time defending champion, are through to the round of 16 at the Oregon Senior Amateur.

Banks, who shot 68 and earned the No. 1 seed in a one-hole playoff with Randy Mahar, defeated Kurt Hiersche 7-and-5 in the round of 32, while Hval had a 4-and-3 win over Tom Zupan.

Mahar, who also shot 68 in qualifying, lost his opening match to David Lydell on the 18th hole.

Banks will face 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur runner-up Pat O'Donnell in the round of 16 on Wednesday. Hval will take on Gregg Guernsey, who won 4-and-3 over Mike Gleason on Tuesday.

Entries are open to male and female amateur golfers 50 years of age or older with USGA Handicap Indexes of 9.5 or less for men and 22.4 or less for women and who are members in good standing of an OGA member club.
