OJAI, CA (July 14, 2006) – A unique three-day golf program, offered August 25-27 at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, will help golfers work through the chronic physical ailments that have kept them from reaching their full potential on the golf course.  This class is ideal for anyone who loves playing golf but has found their game has suffered as a result of back issues, rotator cuff or shoulder pain, or knee or hip replacement surgery.  Attendees will learn how their individual physical ailments affect their golf swing and how to overcome them.
The Performance Golf Summit will combine the teaching expertise of Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s Director of Instruction Jeff Johnson and Santa Barbara-based certified athletic trainer Kevin Brown.  Kevin will identify a golfer’s problem areas and help the player set up a game plan for improving his golf performance in six short weeks.
Kevin is co-founder of the Elite Performance and Rehab Center in Santa Barbara, California, and has worked with tour professionals such as Fred Couples and Todd Fischer.  Jeff Johnson, a UCLA All-American golf standout under Coach Eddie Merrins and PGA golf professional, has headed up the resort’s acclaimed Academy of Golf since 1996.
The cost for the three-day program is $1,230 per person or $1,900 for double occupancy, and includes all golf instruction, performance enhancement sessions, club fitting analysis, two days of golf on the Inn’s classic course, instruction materials, training amenities, a six week follow-up session, and two nights of deluxe accommodations at the newly-renovated Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.  Cost for the workshop without overnight accommodations is $700/day.  For reservations, please contact the Inn’s golf shop at (805) 640-2420.
Golf at Ojai, a highly sought-after experience by players of all levels since 1923, has been enhanced by a $70 million renovation of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.  A new pro shop, an improved layout of the classic George Thomas-designed course, expanded instruction and new programs promise to bring the playing experience to new heights.  The Ojai course has hosted seven Senior PGA Tour events, the EMC Golf Skills Challenge televised by NBC Sports, and the Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity Tournament.   It is repeatedly rated a silver medal resort by   GOLF magazine- whose editors also named Ojai’s hole #2 among the “500 World’s Greatest Golf Holes.”
