NAPLES, Fla. (July 31, 2014) -- Tommy Hurst, Rohan Ramnath and Samuel Uhland share medalist honors at the 24th Florida State Amateur Match Play Championship at The TwinEagles Club in Naples. Matches begin on Friday at 8:00 AM with the final match played on Sunday, August 3 at 12:00 PM.

After rounds of seven-under par 65, Tommy Hurst of Miami Shores, Rohan Ramnath of Weston, and Samuel Uhland of Jacksonville all earned medalist honors. Using a coin flip as a tie-breaker, Hurst was awarded the number one seed, with Uhland taking the second seed and Ramnath earning the third seed. The Defending Champion, Kevin Jorden of Juno Beach, earned the 21st seed after his round of one-under par 71, and will look to become the first player to repeat as Champion.

To capture the Amateur Match Play Championship, the competitor must outlast the talented field of 64 players and win his six matches. Before reaching the Championship, more than 260 players attempted to qualify at one of seven sites across the state. In the qualifying stage, players competed in 18 holes of stroke play in hopes of reaching the Championship at The TwinEagles Club. The Match Play Championship begins with an 18-hole seeding round to seed the 64 player field. Single elimination match play follows to determine the Match Play Champion.

ABOUT THE Florida Amateur Match Play

Prequalifying to determine a championship field of 64 players. 18 holes of stroke play to determine seeding for the match play bracket. Open to male amateur golfers with a valid USGA handicap index not exceeding 11.4. Must be a member of the FSGA.
