Mendoza wins San Diego City Championship
LA JOLLA, Calif. (July 20, 2014) -- Nahum Mendoza III shot rounds of 67-73-70 to win by two shots at the 2014 San Diego City Amateur Championship.

Playing the South Course at Torrey Pines, Mendoza, who'll be a sophomore at San Diego State in the fall, bested runner-up Ryan Odom on the strength of his opening-round 5-under 67.

Odom, who plays at Cal State San Marcos, shot 70-71-71 to finish solo second while Alex Angard was alone in third place.

ABOUT THE San Diego City Amateur

NOTE: Tournament fills quickly, check San Diego Golf website listed in contact section sometime between April 1st and May 1st for entry info.

The format is 54 hole Gross Stroke Play with no cut and is open to all amateur golfers, 18 years of age and over, who are active members of an SCGA or USGA club or index system and have a current numeric index.

The tournament is comprised of three championship flights: Men's, Women's and Senior's. Player selection for all flights will be made by the tournament committee. The committee will determine selection for the championship based on lowest verified indexes.
