Kentucky Sr. Match Play: Top seeds roll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 24, 2014) -- Warm, breezy conditions continued on Wednesday, June 24 at Wildwood Country Club in Louisville. The excellent play from some of the Commonwealth’s best senior amateur golfers did as well.
The Kentucky Golf Association Senior Match Play Championship Round of 16 began at 9 a.m. with the Championship Flight. Defending Champion, Steve Rogers of Bowling Green and Championship Flight Qualifier Medalist Rick Cain of Louisville advanced handily in their matches, winning 6 & 5 and 9 & 7, respectively.
Danny Ashlock of Louisville used his local knowledge of Wildwood to defeat Randy Crowdis 1 up.
David Pohlmann of Louisville battled back from a 3-hole deficit on the front nine to defeat Ken Roederer in 19 holes.
Tom Scheuerman and Joe Cantrell both won their respective matches 2 & 1 and Scott Pottinger finished his first match with a 2 up victory.
