VILLAGE OF LOCH LLOYD, Mo. (June 16, 2014) -- Jon Troutman shot rounds of 74-71-68 to take low amateur honors at The Watson Challenge held at Loch Lloyd Country Club.

The score was not only good enough to log him low amateur status but it was the same score shot by PGA Tour legend and defending champ Tom Watson, for whom the event is named. Each year, Watson, a Kansas City-area native, brings together the region's top golfers to determine the 'Best Golfer in the Greater Kansas City Golf Community.'

And this year, it was nearly Watson!

Watson finished among three players tied for second place at 3-under. He shot a final-round 67 to climb the leaderboard. Troutman matched him, closing with a 68 on Sunday.

Steve Groom was tied for sixth with fellow amateur Zac Dittmer at even par while Ryan Zech took eighth (1-over) and Chase Hanna and Josh Weekms, also both amateurs, tied for ninth place.
