Mississippi State Am: Beale remains in lead
Choctaw, MS (June 7, 2014) -- Round three of the 2014 Mississippi State Amateur has ended today showing the same name atop the leaderboard. Nick Beale from Pass Christian, MS shot an even 72 today to remain at -7 for the tournament. Close behind Nick at -6 is Braden Thornberry from Olive Branch, MS who also shot an even 72 today to remain at -6 for the tournament.
In third following the leaders is Eddie Brescher III from Hattiesburg, MS. Eddie is at -5 overall and shot an even 72 today as well.
Four time champion Clay Homan shot a 75 today, bringing him to -3 overall, while fellow past champion Fletcher Johnson shot the low round of the day today with a 68, bringing him to +4 for the tournament. Another notable is Andy Ogletree, A junior player who shot a round of 70 today to bring him to +1 overall.
We head in to round four of the tournament tomorrow with a tightly packed leaderboard with eight players at par or below for the tournament. The 2014 championship is still up for grabs and it will be exciting to find out which player comes out on top tomorrow.

ABOUT THE Mississippi State Amateur
Format: The tournament is scheduled for 72 holes of
stroke play with a cut to the low 60(+ties) after 36
holes of play. Field size is limited to 120 players.
Qualifiers will be held for the State Amateur,
including an Open Qualifier, the week of the event.
Each is scheduled for 18 holes of stroke play. The
number of players to advance will be determined by
the number of entries for each qualifier and the
number available in the field after the exempt
players have reserved their place. The same
percentage from each qualifier will advance to the
championship.
Eligibility: The Amateur Championship is open to
male amateurs who are bona fide residents of the
state of Mississippi for at least 60 days prior to the
first round of the tournament. Participants must
conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. All
participants in Mississippi Golf Association State
Championships are required to have an active GHIN
Handicap through a USGA Licensed Mississippi Club.
