SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 31, 2014) -- The final match of the 51st SCGA Four Ball Championship at Spartanburg Country Club is set with Walt Todd & Brandon Truesdale facing Cory Taylor & Mike Hartin for the right to become 2014 Champions.
The Quarterfinal matches began on Saturday morning with 2012 Champions Walt Todd & Brandon Truesdale battling back after being 3 down through 8 holes to compile 5 birdies from the 9th to the 18th hole to eliminate Geno Berchiatti & Robert Lutomski 2 up. Stephen Hollingsworth & Zach Siefert held on to defeat Jeff Pope & Thomas Todd 1 Up after Pope & Todd rallied late in the match. The medalist team of Cory Taylor & Mike Hartin grabbed the lead after the 8th hole and didn’t turn back, defeating Josh Branyon & Matt Davis with a 4&3 victory after an eagle at the 15th hole. The final match of the morning ended with a victory for Josh McMillan and Stan Sill defeating Trey Taylor & Cabrick Waters 3&1.
In the Semifinal matches Todd & Truesdale continued their stellar play defeating Siefert & Hollingsworth 3&2. The former champs made eight birdies after going down one on the second hole with a bogey. In the Lower Division, Taylor & Hartin battled with the veteran team of McMillan and Sill before going ahead on the ninth hole with a birdie and winning three of the next seven holes to finish 4&3.
The final match will begin on Sunday morning at 8.00 a.m. off of #1 tee
