NCAA Div. II Championship: Nova Southeastern leads
ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 20, 2014) -- Perennial power Nova Southeastern leads by four shots after the first round of play at the 2014 NCAA Men's Division II Golf Championship at Meadows Golf Club.
Mitch Farrer shot the low round of the day, a 70, to take control of the individual medalist race and lead Nova Southeastern to the top of the leaderboard. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based school also received first-round 71s from Santiago Gomez and Ricardo Celia.
Chico State is in second place on the strength of Alistair Doherty's 71. Will Filcroft and Justin Wiles chipped in 73s to keep Chico within striking distance entering Round 2 on Tuesday.
Barry University is five shots back and alone in third place while CSU-Monterey Bay and Indiana University of Pa. round out the Top 5.

ABOUT THE NCAA Division II Championship
The National Championship of championship of
NCAA
Division II
men's college golf teams. From its inception through
2010, it was a 72-hole stroke play team
competition,
with an additional award for the lowest scoring
individual competitor. The team format changed
starting in 2011 to 54 holes of stroke play followed
by an eight-team single elimination medal match
play competition. The 54-hole individual leader is
the
individual champion.
