CHICAGO, Ill. (May 14, 2014) -- Glenn Przybylski fired consecutive rounds of 72 to win by two shots at the 23rd Illinois State Amateur Public Links Championship at Harborside International Golf Center.

Przybylski withstood a final-round surge from Rick Palonis, who finished with Tim Sheppard for second place after closing Wednesday with a 69 -- the best card of the tournament.

Sheppard went 72-74 to finish tied for second place.

Gerald Zawaski and Nathan Young rounded out the top five positions, tying for fourth place four shots behind Przybilski.

Good things happen for Glenn Przybylski when he shoots an even par 72 at the Illinois State Amateur Public Links Championship.

In 1995, Przybylski shot a 72 in the then 18-hole championship at George Dunne National Golf Club, before taking the title in a three-hole playoff. Nineteen years later, the Frankfort native carded two more rounds of 72, Tuesday and Wednesday at Harborside International Golf Center, to win the 23rd and final iteration of the event.

Moving forward, the Illinois State APL will be replaced by a CDGA Mid-Am Match Play Championship. Details on the new event will come later this year.
