Indiana Tournament of Champions: Eckerle grabs early lead
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (May 9, 2014) -- Chris Eckerle shot 3-under 68 on Friday to take the first-round lead at the 2014 Indiana Tournament of Champions at Fox Prairie Golf Course.
Eckerle enters Saturday's second and final round with a one-shot lead over Sean Rowen and Tyler Bale, who share second place ahead of Bob Stephens (70, 4th).
According to the IGA, the course was playing extremely firm and fast in Friday's first round.
"I hope to play well again tomorrow, but this early in the year you never know what to expect,” Eckerle said to the Indiana Golf Association. "It would be exciting to win this event, as it is to win any IGA event. To win when playing against all of the club champions would be special.”
