Timuquana Cup: Danny Nelson extends lead
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 3, 2014) -- Danny Nelson shot a second-round 75 and remains in the lead at the 2014 Timuquana Cup.
At Timuquana Golf Club, the Savannah, Ga. area golfer followed his first-round 68 with a 75 and sits at 1-under after two rounds.
He'll head into the final round of the prestigious 54-hole event with a three-shot lead over the field.
Nick Gilliam and T.J. Shuart are tied for second place. They both shot 73 for the second straight day and are at 2-over for the event.
Charles Waddell is alone in third place, sitting four back of Nelson.
The Timuquana Cup annually draws a solid field consisting of 40 of the top mid-amateurs and 20 of the top senior amateurs in the country.

The theme of the event will be a
"Gathering of
Friends" with a small, select field

amateur
golf. The Timuquana Cup will be a
celebration
of amateur golf.
The tournament chairman is Steve Melnyk,
and
USGA Rules Official Tom Dudley will be in
charge of course set up and the rules of
competition. One of the highlights of this
year's event will be a cocktail cruise on the
St.
Johns River departing from the Timuquana
Country Club dock and housing will be
available
for many competitors in members' homes.
