Georgia Super Senior: Marsh holds lead
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (April 2, 2014) --- Don Marsh of Johns Creek leads the Georgia Super Senior Championship after firing a 3-under-par 69 in round one at Barnsley Resort. Marsh, the winner of this event last year, is looking to successfully defend his title. The seventh edition of the Georgia Super Senior Championship is taking place April 2-3.

Marsh is the only player in red numbers after the first 18 holes and sits three strokes ahead of Bill Leonard of Dallas, who turned in an even-par 72 score. Stephen Schwartz of Savannah finished round one at 1-over-par 73. To round out the top five, two players tied at 3-over-par 75, including Joe Whisenant of Douglasville and Jim Planche of Lawrenceville.

Shot of the day goes to Frank Brown, Jr., of Rome who recorded an ace on the 129-yard third hole with an 8-iron. He finished his round at 4-over-par 76.

Entries were open to male amateur golfers age 65 or older as of April 2, and who belong to a GSGA member club. The low 72 entries were determined by handicap index and remaining 39 players were determined by lottery.

Barnsley Resort is playing to 6,137 yards and a par 72 for the Super Senior Championship.
