SEATON, Australia (March 18, 2014) -- Scott Ready from Flagstaff Hill Golf Club has claimed the 2014 SA Medal after a birdie on the first playoff hole over Jack Williams, after both players finished at 7-under par (281) after 72 holes of stroke play at Flagstaff Hill.

Ready began day two at 5-under par, 2 strokes ahead of Jack William’s, after opening rounds of 72,67 and continued to score low in the third round firing a 3-under 69.

‘I started off strongly trying to get off to the best start I could, I knew there were quite a few players behind me chasing, but knew if I played solid in the third round I would put myself in a good position” Ready said.

Ready’s third round included an eagle on the par 4, 11th hole his second hole for the day after teeing off the 10th.

Ready posted a final round 73 with Williams shooting a 1-under 71.

“I was square through the front nine and playing okay, I knew that if I could post an even par round or thereabouts it would be tough to catch.”

“On the playoff hole, I trusted everything I had been working on and knew I had prepared 100% with my coach Daniel Blackwell so just backed myself.”

Ready is quietly confident heading into the Match Play rounds at Kooyonga.

“Kooyonga used to be my old home Club, so I know the course very well. I’m quite comfortable out there and am just looking to continue this form through the match play rounds.”

Grant Riches (Kooyonga) qualified in third position at 1-over with rounds of 72-71-69-71 (283) on a count back from James Bannan (Rosanna GC) 73-70-68-72 (283).

SA’s leading player Anthony Murdaca (The Grange) qualified in 7th position on 292 ahead of Greg Blewett who finished on 295 and qualified 8th.

Fifteen South Australian’s made it through to the Match Play (top 16) with William Somerfield (Kooyonga) the 16th qualifier at 12-over on 300.

The South Australian Men’s Amateur Championship Match Play rounds (Quarter Finals) commence at Kooyonga on Thursday 20 March from 7.30am.
