New Jersey (NJSGA) Amateur Championship
DEAL, NJ (June 9, 2006) -- Christopher Gold of Little Mill Country Club today became the 105th New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Champion, capping a remarkable 72-hole effort with a three-over par 74 in this morning’s final round at the par 71, 6328 yard Deal Golf and Country Club in Deal. Gold, the nineteen year old Haddonfield resident and rising sophomore at Texas Tech University, held off a hard-charging Michael Deo of Montclair Golf Club, who carded a four-under par 67 (34-33) final round. The Edwin M. Wild Championship Trophy was awarded to Gold, and it will take residence at Little Mill Country Club in Marlton for the ensuing year.

The low twenty scorers (and ties) will be exempt from qualifying for the 2007 Championship, which will be held in early June at the Rockaway River Country Club in Denville.
