Greer, Jungkind lead 'Bama Senior Four-Ball
KILLEN, Ala. (Oct. 12, 2013) -- Mike Greer and Tom Jungkind fired a second consecutive 66 in the 19th State Senior Four Ball Championship at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen on Saturday to take the lead by two on 12-under-par 132.
Greer of Birmingham and Jungkind of Bessemer won this state championship in 2011 and 2012. They carded birdies on Nos. 1, 5, 7, 11, 14 and 17 to pull out of a four-way tie after the first round.
Flip Bradley of Huntsville and Madison’s Bill Moquin fired a 65, the low round of the day and championship, to add to their opening 69 to be in second on 10-under-par. They made birdie on No. 1 and then reeled off four birdies in a row on Nos. 6-9, before adding two more on 12 and 18.
Dora’s Bill Griffin and Howard Mullinax of Mount Olive (66-69) and Timothy Creasy and Tony Olive, both of Florence, (68-67) are tied for third on 135, nine-under-par.
The championship will conclude Sunday, with the leaders teeing off on No. 1 at 9:20. It is the final Alabama Golf Association championship of the season.
