Fla. Senior Four-Ball: Dean, Miller prevail
VERO BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2013) -- The team of Roger Dean and Mike Miller fired a final round of eight-under par 64 to capture the 39th Senior Four-Ball Championship as Pete Andrews and Skip Lujack captured the Super Senior Division at The Indian River Club, in Vero Beach, on October 1-2.

The duo from Ormond Beach, Roger Dean and Mike Miller, posted a four-under par 68 in the first round to trail the first round leaders by two strokes heading into the final round of play. In the final round, Dean and Miller caught fire, posting an eight-under par 64 to hold off the Defending Champions, Steve Earsley, of Hobe Sound, and Doug LaCrosse, of Tampa, by one stroke to capture the Championship. With this win, Dean and Miller earned an exemption into the 2014 Four-Ball Championship held at Grand Cypress Golf Club, in Orlando. The first round leaders, Mike Barkley, of Clearwater, and Philip Powell, of Saint Petersburg, finished alone in third place after their rounds of 66-69--135.

In the Super Senior Division, the team of Pete Andrews, of Lithia, and Skip Lujack, of Brandon, put together a dominating performance to win by four strokes. Andrews and Lujack posted a first round of five-under par 67 to hold a share of the lead heading into the final round. Andrews & Lujack picked up where the left off on Wednesday, posting another round of five-under par 67, to capture the title. Four teams finished tied for second place including: The team from Ocala, Randy Briggs and Berger Warner, the team of Ben Kenny, from Alpharetta, and Edward Garver, of Land O’ Lakes, the team of Ken Couturier, from Melbourne, and Ray Darmstadt, of Cocoa Beach, and the team of Tom Austin, from Lake Wales, and Tommy Piazza, of Sarasota, all posted a tournament total of six-under par 138.

36-hole four-ball stroke play championship. Players must be age 55 or older, and both entrants must be members of the FSGA. FLIGHTS: After 18 holes. The number of flights in each age division will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.
