Iowa (IGA) Mid-Amateur Championship
2006 Iowa Mid-Amateur Champion
FORT DODGE, IA (May 21, 2006) -- Mike McCoy of West Des Moines defeated Jon Brown of Urbandale on the first hole of a sudden death playoff to capture his second straight Iowa Mid-Amateur crown. The win also makes it three out of the last four for McCoy who won the Mid-Am in 2003. Brown had a chance to win in regulation when he watched McCoy bogey the 18th in the group in front. That bogey gave Brown a share of the lead and a birdie would have won it. His approach was on the flagstick the whole way but settled 25 feet past the hole. His two-putt par put him in the playoff with McCoy.
Tim Taylor of Ankeny captured the Senior Division. His two day total of 1-over par 143 was two shots clear of 2005 Senior Player of the Year Jim Butler.
