Finals set at Heart of America Four-Ball
VILLAGE OF LOCH LOYD, Mo. (Aug. 9, 2013) -- The stage is now set for both the Senior division and Open division finals of the 2013 Heart of America Four Ball Championship. Mark Addington and Tom Leonard look to claim their first title as partners in the Senior division against a worthy opponent in the team of Karl Elbrecht and Jerry Watulavich, playing in the Heart of America from St. Louis. Addington looks to claim his second Heart of America title after winning in 2008 with partner Jim Seward. Addington/Leonard rolled their way into the finals, managing defeats of 5 and 4 over the powerhouse team of Steve Groom and Andy Smith in the semifinals and a 7 and 5 victory over Don Kuehn and Jerry Reid in the morning quarterfinals. The Senior final is set to go off at 7:45 tomorrow, Saturday, morning at Loch Lloyd Country Club.

The team of Drew Judd and Brian Walker continued their successful play through the Heart after a dramatic victory that needed 20 holes over Loch Lloyd members Craig Johnston and Trent Newby on Friday in the semifinals. Judd/Walker, from Topeka, had a 2 up lead after nine holes in their semifinal match, only to find themselves all square on the 15th tee box. A birdie from Johnston/Newby would put them 1 up on the 17th green, but a costly three-put for Newby would mean the match would extend to the 18th hole. Pars on the 18th between both teams took the players and crowd of spectators back to the 1st hole. A par on the 2nd playoff hole for Judd/Walker would mean they had secured themselves a position in the 36 hole final tomorrow morning.

Judd and Walker will face off against the team of Josh Weems and Jackson Foth in the final of the 2013 Heart of America Four Ball at Loch Lloyd Country Club at 7:30 am Saturday. Weems and Foth find themselves in their third straight Heart finals, having lost in 2011 to David Rismiller and Jason Seeman and in 2012 to Curtis Yonke and Ben Juffer. Another exciting semifinal match that had Weems/Foth chasing Joe Migdal and Evan Monheiser for most of the day, a birdie on the 18th hole would give them a 1 up margin of victory heading into tomorrow’s 36-hole final against Judd and Walker.
