Kentucky Open: Wilshire takes low am
ALVATON, Ky. (Aug. 8, 2013) -- Everything is going well for Rick Cochran III. He has recently gotten married, bought a house and is playing spectacular golf. The latter was on display at the Kentucky Open Championship at The Club at Olde Stone, where Cochran dominated the field, finishing at 8-under-par for his three rounds and four shots ahead of his closest competitors. Cochran attributed his golf success to working with his Professional, Nate Wolfe, on becoming more consistent both in keeping the ball in play and with his short game. As the 72 players in the final round of Kentucky Open will tell you, those two items were critical for playing well at Olde Stone. Cochran was showcased on The Golf Channel’s, The Big Break television show, as was Taryn Durham who finished as the Low Professional in the Women’s Kentucky Open. Apparently, Big Break Stars and Kentucky Open Championships go hand-in-hand!

Kyle Wilshire of Georgetown birdied his last hole to finish at 4-under-par for the Championship and take home Low Amateur honors. Wilshire heads back to school this week as a senior at University of Central Florida. Newly turned professional, Patrick Newcomb, of Benton, was the only player in the final three groups to finish with an under par round (71) and also finished at 4-under-par. Kris Maffet, of Elizabethtown, tied for low round of the day (69) to also finish at 4-under.
