Rhode Island Stroke Play: Hayes tops Leopold
REHOBOTH, Mass. (July 30, 2013) -- Newport Country Club's Johnny Hayes captured his first RIGA championship shooting 11-under par 202.
He started the day four strokes behind Round 1 leader Bobby Leopold (Ledgemont CC).
Hayes shot 66-66 to edge Leopold by a stroke.
Defending champion Jamison Randall (Alpine CC) made a run, shooting 69-67 for a three-round total of 208.
In the senior division, Foster CC's Dave McNally held off Paul Quigley to beat him by one. McNally shot 68-72-68-208 and Quigley shot 67-70-72-209.
