Memphis Amateur: Clayton Ellis rolls
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (July 29, 2013) -- Former University of Memphis golfer Clayton Ellis held on to his 4 stroke lead headed into the final round of the MGA Amateur Championship after following up his opening 68 with an even-par 70 at Memphis Country Club in round two.

Ellis, a member of Windyke Country Club, leads Tim Jackson of Ridgeway Country Club who rebounded from an opening round 75 on day one with a three-under par 67 on day two.

Robert Adams of Windyke is alone in third place after rounds of 73-71, and Buzz Fly of Spring Creek Ranch (76-69) and Tyler Peggs of Ridgeway (75-70) are another stroke back in a tie for fourth. The final round will be held at Colonial Country Club's North Course.

ABOUT THE Memphis Amateur

The Memphis Amateur Championship is a 54-hole individual men's medal play tournament played on three different courses. The field is limited to the first 156 paid male amateurs who conform to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status and who are at least 16 years of age. The field will be cut to the low 70 players and ties after 36 holes, and flighted into five flights of equal size.
