PORTLAND, ORE. (June 24, 2011) -- The Women's field was parred down to the quarterfinalists. Monica Vaughn of Reedsport, Ore. again dashed the hopes of Springfield's Erica Omlid as Vaughn won the matches 2 & 1.

Medalist Caroline Inglis of Eugene, Ore. had no problem advancing with a 6 & 5 win over Chelsey Lind of Bend, Ore. Next she will face Kendra Little of Bend, Ore. who also won her match 6 & 5. Vaughn will have the daunting task of facing Lara Tennant of Portland, Ore.

Those were the only blowout matches of the day as the rest went at least 17 holes. Two matches went extra holes including that of Morgan Thompson of Tualatin, Ore. who sent the 2009 Oregon Amateur Champion Amy Simanton of Lake Oswego, Ore. on the 19th hole. Simanton birdied the final hole in regulation to force extra holes, but mistakenly hit driver off the first tee out of bounds quickly dashing any chances of earning another title.

Quarterfinal matches begin Friday morning at 8am, followed by semi-final matches in the afternoon.
