SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 20, 2007)-- Things got dicey early for Dylan Frittelli to start the final day of the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship's 15-17 year old boys division.

The South Africa leader opened the day with a solid lead at 7-under-par, but saw playing partner Austin Cody of North Charleston, South Carolina, cut the lead to two strokes after some opening scuffling.

"Going off the first I was a bit nervous and unfortunately made double bogey, which set me back a bit," said Frittelli. "From there Austin Cody was pushing from behind, he got to 2-under at a stage and I dropped to 4-under, but I fought well through the back nine, made a few birdies."

"Unfortunately I bogeyed the last, but what can you do?"

In the end, Frittelli's steady play translated to a five-stroke victory.

"Coming into the tournament I wasn't hitting the ball awesomely, but I was playing consistent golf," he said. "The side that I thought saved me was my mental side. I didn't make a lot of mistakes, only one double bogey the whole tournament, which I'm real proud of."

Much of the attention throughout the tournament was focused on Japan's Ryo Ishikawa, who recently became the youngest golfer at 15-years-old to win a tournament on the Japanese pro tour.

Followed by nearly 100 members of the Japanese media, he finished at 12-over-par, in 23rd place.

Playing on his home course, James Erkenbeck of San Diego played in the final group, and although he dropped to 8th place, he finished in style by coming within a foot of a double-eagle on the 18th hole.
