Anderson Memorial: Smith, Crockett back on top
Dan Crockett, Parker Smith
MAMARONECK, NY (June 8, 2013) -- After rain forced Round 2 to a Saturday morning start, familiar faces gained their footing and a comfortable spot on the leaderboard --- the top.
Two-time defending champions Parker Smith and Dan Crockett fired a second-round 64 to finish the Round 2 atop the leaderboard.
Normally completing with a 16-team match-play portion, this weekend's event was changed to a 54-hole stroke-play event due to the loss of play on Friday when rains from Tropical Storm Andrea swept through the region.
The low 16 teams (8 in Senior Division) will move on to Sunday's final round of stroke play.
After an opening-round 70, the duo beat out Matthew Rosen and Jeremy Defalco by one shot.
Joe Saladino, the recent winner at the Havemeyer and Travis Invitationals, and parther Dave Boccia were among two teams to finish early at 4-under and will likely end up with the No. 3 seed in match play.
In the Senior Division, Bart Goodwin and Mike Peck are the leaders entering Sunday's final round. The duo shot 67 on Saturday and are one shot up on Thomas Bartolacci and Joe Viechnicki.
Defending champs Jim Holtgrieve and Tom Case of Pine Valley are five back in a fifth-place tie.
