Luke Donald has garnered countless headlines following his clinching of the PGA Tour's money list for the 2011 season. He's primed to make even more headlines if and when he is named the player of the year.

A recent headline in on Golfweek.com, however, may shed the most light into just how and why Donald has turned himself into the top-ranked player in the game.

As Golfweek's James Achenbach noted Tuesday, Donald's bag consists of: "Mizuno MP-62 irons (3-PW with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 steel shafts), Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK hybrid (17 degree with Aldila NV 85X shaft), Mizuno MP T-11 wedges (54 degree with Dynamic Gold S300 shaft and 60 degree with True Temper DG Spinner shaft), TaylorMade R11 driver (9 degree with Accra XC 65 shaft), TaylorMade R9 3-wood (13 degree with Accra XC 75 shaft), Odyssey White Hot XG No. 7H putter and a Titleist Pro V1x ball."

Donald has gone on record as requiring consistent feel in the shafts he plays. He opts for True Temper's soft S300 shafts over the highly popular True Temper X100 shafts on his irons.

Donald uses True Temper's DG Spinner shafts on his wedges, seeking the rippled steel that helps increase spin. More than two dozen players on the PGA Tour also play the Spinner shafts.
