Haag takes top spot at SF City Men's Championship qualifying

San Francisco, Calif (Feb. 26, 2012) -- Amateur stalwart Randy Haag will take the number one seed in his quest to capture his first San Francisco City amateur title since 1999. Haag posted rounds of 68-71--139, beating out Nicolo Galletti of Clayton (69-71--140) by a single stroke.

Daniel Faulkner of San Francisco posted a brilliant 64 for the low round of the day and finished tied for third with Michael Weaver of Berkeley (70-71--141).

The round of 32 matches get under way at Harding Park Golf Course on Saturday, March 2.

Past champions include Ken Venturi, Harvie Ward, Juli Inkster, Bob Rosburg, George Archer, and Dorothy Delasin. Some of the 'non winners' include Tom Watson and Johnny Miller.
