San Francisco City Championship Qualifying Results
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Febrary 15, 2010)--High school player Cory McElyea of Santa Cruz is Medalist; he and sixty-three players advanced through final qualifying to join exempt defending champion Carlos Briones in Saturday's first round of match play
Cory McElyea of Santa Cruz, who has signed a letter of intent to play college golf at the University of Washington, was the medalist at Lincoln Park Golf Course. McElyea fired rounds of 70-68 to finish one shot ahead of George Gandranata, Taylor Travis, and pre-qualifying medalist Mac McClung
1999 San Francisco City champion Randy Haag
advanced with rounds of 69-75, while 1995-1996 champion Jim Evans also advanced with rounds of 73-76. Jamie Core, last year's runner-up to Briones, advanced with rounds of 75-70.
The first round of match play is set for Saturday, February 20 at Harding Park Golf Course. Match play will continue each weekend until the final two players play for the championship on Sunday, March 7.

The oldest municipal tournament in the USA. Match
play event with scratch men's, senior men’s,
women's, senior women’s, and open flight divisions.
Past champions include Ken Venturi, Harvie
Ward, Juli Inkster, Bob Rosburg, George Archer, and
Dorothy Delasin. Some of the “non winners” include
Tom Watson and Johnny Miller.
36-hole match play qualifier on October
30 and 31, 2021, with
18 holes played at TPC Harding Park and 18 holes at
Lincoln Park Golf
Course for a combined 36-hole qualifying score.
There are 156 players in the qualifying round with
64 players advancing to match play. Match play
starts November 6, 2021. All
match play for the Championship Flight held at
TPC Harding Park.
