Koivun’s 25-under week sparks Auburn’s record-setting win in Hawaii
Jackson Koivun put together a week Auburn won’t forget, delivering the best individual performance in program history as the No. 5 Tigers matched the NCAA scoring record at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
Koivun, the No. 1 ranked player on the 2025 AmateurGolf.com Men's Rankings and the reigning Mark H. McCormack Medal winner, shot 62-62-67 to finish 25-under-par and win the individual title by five strokes at Mauna Lani Golf Club.
He made just one bogey across 54 holes, stacking 24 birdies and an eagle in a three-round run that turned the week into a steady chase behind him.
“It feels great to start the spring with a win individually and as a team,” Koivun said. “This is a great starting point.”
His opening back-to-back 62s also set a new NCAA 36-hole scoring record at 18-under, surpassing the previous mark held by Tiger Woods.
Auburn rode that surge to a 77-under team total, matching the NCAA scoring record and winning the Amer Ari for the first time in 12 attempts, finishing 13 shots clear of No. 6 Texas.
Junior Cayden Pope completed an Auburn one-two, finishing second at 20-under after rounds of 65-68-63.
The performance also fit Koivun’s larger arc. In 2025, he played 23 ranked events, won twice — the SEC Men’s Golf Championship in April and the NCAA Auburn Regional in May — and added 11 other top-10 finishes to close out his season.
Texas senior Tommy Morrison, the defending individual champion, finished T-8 at 16-under with rounds of 69-67-64. Defending team champions Oklahoma State ended the week sixth at 52-under.
