The Arizona junior is first repeat champion since 1965/1966 as San Diego State wins the team title
Arizona's Filip Jakubcik loves to play Pasatiempo.
The talented junior won the 2025 Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif., by six shots over a field that included San Diego State's Justin Hastings, a participant in the 2025 Masters Tournament.
Jakubcik, who is currently ranked No. 95 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings, carded consistent rounds of 65-66-66 to finish 13-under and secure the wire-to-wire victory.

Caden Fiorino of UNLV finished in solo second place at 7-under and six shots back of Jakubcik. Peter Kim of BYU and Mahanth Chirravuri of Pepperdine finished T3 at 6-under.
Daniel Heo of California, Nathan Wang of Stanford, and Finn Koelle of Washington finished T5 at 5-under to round out the top five.
Jakubcik also won the 2024 Western Intercollegiate over Hastings. Hastings finished T11 at 1-under this year, but was T2 after the opening round. In his defense, it is a long flight from Augusta to Santa Cruz.
Jakubcik played for the International team at the 2024 Palmer Cup in Ireland, finishing with a record of 2-2, and was named to the Haskins Award Fall Watch List. He earned Third Team Preseason All-American honors from the Golf Channel's Brentley Romine and Golfweek, shot a 3-under 67 at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate, and finished tied for second.
He played in all tournaments this season with a 71.67 scoring average.
In the team competition, San Diego State finished 7-under with rounds of 338-358-348 to also secure a wire-to-wire win. 2024 champions Stanford finished in solo second place at 1-under and Pepperdine finished in solo third place at 1-over.
2022 and 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is the most notable past champion of the Western Intercollegiate when Scheffler won it in 2015 with Texas.
